Portland Art Museum's After Hours Music Series

PAM celebrates 20 years of music and dancing on Wednesday's from 5:30-7:30 p.m. I'm not sure if it's every Wednesday or not because I just now wised up and found out about this program.

I rode the bus to within a few blocks of Will Call and soon found myself in a huge, square, high-ceilinged hall. Catty-cornered in its center was a combo bar/serving station where libations and food could be purchased.

On stage Charmaine Neville and her musical kinsmen went to town and soon had probably a 100 people up dancing on the rather large wooden dance floor, with maybe 300 more at tables and lining the walls. I had a great time, even got to do the electric slide to the last song, although hearing live music evocative of the South did make me miss the musicians that Mama and I so enjoyed in Jackson. In fact, I just had to call eZra (who graciously answered his cell phone) and tell him I missed him and his music. He told me that he was on his way to a gig with Raphael Semmes. What fun that must have been for those lucky enough to experience it.
