Monumental Mt. Hood, in the distance ...

DSC_0007p760
... beyond the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office boat, Liberty, anchored in the mighty Columbia River. I took this photo Saturday morning as I rode in a smaller MCSO boat towards Liberty, my station for the Polar Plunge. I had volunteered to take photos of that fund-raising event for Oregon Special Olympics. There on the right you can glimpse one of the Sheriff's dive team members and the floating border of the plunge area, created by those blue and white floats that have a rope going from one to the other.

Rain had been predicted but didn't show. A brisk wind did, however. I cannot imagine how those waiting to plunge and those wet with the 39 degree water felt in that wind. I thanked my lucky stars that the Liberty's bow pointed into the wind as I stood on the back to the right of that door, snapping one photo after another.

About the mountain, if you go by I-84, it is 76.3 miles from where I rode as I took this photo. Monumental indeed.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Fabulous look.

It was Valentine's Day, and I'd finished my first PCPA tour guide training. I walked to Pioneer Courthouse Square to catch a MAX train to a bus stop where I could catch the 15 for home. Naturally, I had my camera with me. And am I glad--look at these shoes! They caught my eye first, then the outfit's colors, and then the outfit itself. So, I'm thrilled that I got the entire cool girl in this photo. Thrilled.

I'm thinking she's talking to her Valentine on the cell phone. What do you think?

P. S. Here's my stuff at my bud Casey’s creative blog, seconds and decades. Please take a look at the 10 things I selected. It was difficult to narrow it down to 10, as I’m sure you can guess! She came over Saturday afternoon for a visit and to take the photos. I’ll also provide a link when she does Mama’s stuff.

Canby Cruise In Photos--Red Sweethearts for Your Valentine's Day

Bear with me, please. I've added two photos to my "Red Sweethearts for Valentine's Day" post--ones that slipped by somehow. The reason I'm posting these photos again is simple. I'm working on the rest of the Canby Cruise In photos for the rest of the week, and I just didn't want to leave out these two unique ones. I hope you enjoy all of them and my attempt at poetry, too. Thank you.

Last August I drove with a big grin,
Headed south to Canby and the Cruise In!
Vintage car buffs' delight
At all vehicles in sight!

When today I remembered I saw lots of red--
Yes--I virtually slapped my forehead!
When searching for something for you on Valentine's Day
I knew you'd love all the photos I've posted today!
