Friday, July 18, 2008 ... What is this cute car?

I don't know what it is, but I believe it fits right in with sleek week. I'm hoping someone can identify it for me. Walking along SE Hawthorne one day, there it was, toddling along in the sunshine, one of our prettier March days.

It's a Nash Metropolitan, produced between 1953 and 1962. They are about the size of a Geo Metro (model names must be coincidental).

Yes, I recognize the "Nash" part of the car. Nash at one time was part of Rambler, wasn't it? Even in the '50s, these cars were weird or dorky. There's another car from the times that looks a bit like that one. I, of course, can't remember! CRS strikes again.

Don't those car owners fit the style perfectly?! Cute.

Here's a PS for you, Lynette:

I also frequent NewYorkDailyPhoto blog. On Friday, July 18th's entry, he has a photo of what looks like a real life Flat Stanley scooter. I'm sure that your FS would love a paint job to pearlize his little scooter too!
